Charles McKeag
Charles McKeag is a seasoned real estate executive with over 20 years of experience in the acquisition, entitlement, and development of residential and mixed-use communities throughout the Western United States. Mr. McKeag currently serves as President of BrightSky Residential, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Resmark Companies. BrightSky develops, owns, and operates purpose-built single-family rental communities in California, Texas, and Florida.
Prior to joining BrightSky, Mr. McKeag was President of MLC Holdings, Inc., a subsidiary of Meritage Homes Corporation (NYSE: MTH) focused exclusively on the acquisition and entitlement of development opportunities throughout the Western U.S. During his tenure at MLC, Mr. McKeag established operations in Northern California, Southern California, and Colorado, and the MLC team successfully developed 30 new communities representing over 4,000 residential units and $2.8 billion in retail value.
Before starting MLC, Mr. McKeag spent 13 years in leadership positions at The New Home Company and SCS Development Company, where he led the acquisition and development of over 6,000 residential units. Before starting his real estate career, was a lawyer at Crosby Heafey Roach & May (now Reed Smith). Mr. McKeag earned a Juris Doctorate with Distinction from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon.
Mr. McKeag is a past Director of the Building Industry Association of the Bay Area and a current member of the Steering Committee for the Bay Area Chapter of Women’s Housing Leadership Group.
